Our Services
1. Water Rights Acquisition & Leasing
We locate, evaluate, and secure legal water sources for shortterm or longterm use. Our capabilities include:
- Identifying upstream legal sources
- Structuring water leases
- Working with the Division of Water Resources
- Advising on augmentation, replacement, and accounting
- Evaluating ditch and river conveyance options
2. Water Delivery & Conveyance Engineering
Once legal water is secured, we design the most efficient path to move it to the point of use. We provide:
- Cost estimates for permanent pipelines
- Design of temporary aboveground systems
- Layflat hose planning for highvolume fracking operations
- Pump sizing and flowrate modeling
- Route analysis using ditches, rivers, and existing infrastructure
Our team understands both the legal and structural constraints of moving water across Colorado.
3. Reservoir Planning & Surge Pond Strategy
Reservoirs are powerful tools in Colorado’s water landscape. We help landowners and operators:
- Evaluate reservoir construction feasibility
- Understand legal capture and storage rules
- Use reservoirs as surge ponds for highrate withdrawals
- Maximize the value of existing reservoirs
- Plan for resale or lease of stored water
Because inflow rates are often small, reservoirs allow operators to pull large volumes quickly — essential for modern fracking operations.
4. Groundwater & Well Development
Colorado groundwater law is complex — nearly all groundwater is legally tributary unless proven otherwise. We help clients:
- Identify areas with thick, highyield aquifers
- Understand tributary vs. nontributary rules
- Navigate water court requirements
- Work within designated basins
- Aggregate surface ownership to maximize permitted pumping
Proving nontributary status through water court can cost up to $500,000 and carries significant risk. We focus on the more reliable path: drilling in areas already designated nontributary by the State.
